How did I end up teaching in the Ms IT?

When I applied to the MBA program I had an interview with SD, then when I graduated from the MBA, SD was selected to be one of evaluators.

We get to know each other after that, talking about work, he was the coordinator of the Ms IT program and wanted somebody to give a talk to the students about BI, I agreed to it, since is something I was working on Oracle. The conference was a success and I was invited to join the program teaching the BI class.

How did I end up teaching in the Ms marketing direction?

This one is a long chain of events.

The previous professor resigned of this class too close to the first class.

The coordinator asked the head of the IT department, then he asked his right hand, who asked a friend, who asked my then ex-girlfriend(now wife), who knew the topics needed for the class(CRM, BI and DS) were things I worked @ Oracle.

Then I communicated all the way to the coordinator, We talked and well I have been teaching there from 2016 to date =)

Why I left Proulex

I loved this job, the paid was good(better than university), benefits were goods schedule was great and most of the time I got amazing students.

The thing was that at that time I decided I wanted to do a Ms in software engineering  that required 2 years of experience on the industry, so I decided to jobhunt and since I will be at least another 2 years on GDL, I decided to take an MBA…so it was too much, working on the industry teaching part time and studying an MBA, something had to go away and Proulex got the short straw

How did I end up teaching in the Ms in data science?

I heard about this master coming up on mid 18 from couple of different sources, so of course I wanted to join in. I started checking who was going to be the coordinator but didn’t had luck for a while.

I Finally got lucky mid 19, via couple of students, one of them got me the email and I sent an email with my CV, after couple of weeks I got the class of programming I, and after the first semester I was asked to teach programming II.

Why I left CUCEI

From Feb 2006 to Jun 2019, I went every “academic” week to CUCEI, first as student then as a teacher. My student run went from Feb 2006 to Dec 2011, and my teacher run from Feb 2011 to June 2019.

I loved going there every single time, there I met some wonderful people, including my wife and some of dearest friends, some that were my professors, then peers and eventually friends

I finally decided to left CUCEI because I live  10 min away from CUCEA and at least 40 min away from CUCEI; I loved teaching but going there was 160 min a week of my driving, so, for the time being I decided to just teach at CUCEA

How did I end up teaching workshop in systems programming?

This one is pretty weird.

When the old curriculum was still in place, my head of department called me and told me that this class, as I knew, was one of the most difficult, she believed the cause being teacher didn’t want to update the class syllabus( and with the new curriculum coming up there wasn’t a point of doing it then) and she wanted somebody young teaching the old things, taking a new approach to this particular class, thinking that might change the output.

I accepted the challenge and started teaching what I think for the students will be the 2nd most difficult class in their career.

I changed things from start, I was teaching taking an approach kind of like a product owner and PM. I will them the dates, let them decide when I will give them a little extra on old things they might forgotten or new things that could help them out and proceed to explain every single practice and theory. I started letting them know that an assembly was the final product and what is an assembly.

My approach worked, most of my students passed in my firsts semester teaching the class, but things went to the other side when that old curriculum started fading away.

My PhD 2/? DCA 1

In 2017 my then girlfriend(now wife) and I got the idea of starting a phd together, we had two options IT or administration…or one for  each sharing the same project but from different angles.

So We went to a talk about the phd in administration, it was just the 2 of us, the coordinator and his assistant( alumni of my wife and 2 years later student of mine).

The coordinador asked us about our thesis proposal, I give about regarding criptocurrencies and my wife said she didn’t have anything on her mind, but he seemed OK with that.

At the end, We didn’t applied because of the schedule, the PhD had a scholarship and the professors could decide to teach the entire class in a week, so it wasn’t possible for me to work at the same time, and my wife’s classes will be disrupted too much…even if we declined the scholarship the classes will be the same
