Epic Win # 26

In Venezuela we used to play a card-game called “Truco”(Trick in english).

We play it 2 vs 2, each person got 3 cards, the one who wins 2/3 hands, wins the game.

There is one combination “Receta” (Recipe) that is when you have “Perico”(Beats everything) and “Perica”(beats everything except Perico), basically when you get this, you already won…unless somebody tricks you, somebody as me =).

When you have Receta is kind of hard to make the other team bet something, you can’t really hide such a good hand.

I used a difficult trick to beat it. I played 1st and 2nd hand at the same time(1st hand doesn’t really follow any order and you can play it without worrying about being invalid), this basically makes the second card invalid while the opponent thinks that the second card is the 1st they simply throw the lowest card that can beat that.So the oponent thinks they won the 1st when it was actually you, they play the second hand(The first to play is the one who won the 1st one and it moves on to the right)  making it all invalid until you. Before I play I bet everything I can (Because I already know I won) and they of course accept because they have an unbeatable hand!So I throw my card and made them aware of their mistake(They didn’t check my 1st card).

That was by far my best play ever.

Never try to beat a better player…in public

You can become a very good player on whatever-in-life but you should never try to best somebody who is far better than you in life.

Sometimes I get know-it-all student in class that try to make others feel bad because they dont know as much them…so, when I see that I have to let them know they dont know it all.

P.S. Not talking about videogames nor table games nor soccer or stuff like that…there do your best!

Things I shouldn’t/said done #73

Once I was talking with my current girlfriend- who is a huge lover of dogs- and she always said that she had bad luck(she did have very bad luck) because on past life’s she probably was an awful person.Sometimes she also joked that she was probably a dog.

So…I decided one day to say( of course as a joke), you were probably Hitler’s dog…and that made her cry.

I made my girl cry…that broke my heart( and hers), one of the thing I regret more….I can ask forgiveness and apologize but I can’t never undo the damage and how I made her feel.

My granma used to work as a teacher on the university where I also teach, so from time to time she will say she knows somebody that I also know.

So, once she asked,

-Hey Fer do you know XXXX?

-Yeah Lalu, he is the faculty director.

-Oh! He is a good friend of mine! he was my teacher and he got married with one of my closest friends.

The same day, as I walk into his office, he asked me:

-Is XXX your granma?

-Yes, she is!

We got a good relationship, since he was always teasing everybody whenever he teased I just threw my granma card…as, did you know that XXX was my granma teacher? and she is over 75yo.

P.S. 1 : At the time I was a student not a teacher.

P.S. 2: Yes I continued to throw my granma car even when he was my boss’ boss.

Near my granma (Walking distance) there is a gym where I used to go.

On the way there was a vicious dog that always barked at me, so I avoided passing just in front of its house. This time I completely forget about the dog so as I was passing I heard the dog started barking, I looked at the dog and saw it passed across the bars!

I thought the best way will be to run back to my house or climb a parked car, so I looked back and saw a girl with a 3yo baby; so running back was out of question. So, I decided running across the streets, of course I could dodge the cars but the dog? I don’t think so, so I started walking to my back with the dog going at me…in the last moment, I fall on top of the hood of a parked car, with my fall I kicked the dog in the mouth…that wasn’t planned at all but it was a very cool move.

The dog never barked at me again.

So, I had less than 6 months on Guadalajara and I took a summer class, a girl there on the first day had an Atlas T-Shirt(local soccer team that is always been bullied because they haven’t won a national championship in more than 50 years) and I already knew a joke for the Atlas supporters.

“Hey do you cheer/are you a fan even when they win?”(this makes so much sense on spanish).

“I play on the girls team.”

Needless to say it was a long summer class.
